The project at Homebase Bodmin, was a large scale new steel framed extension to the existing Homebase store. We were engaged to provide the steel to steel connections which included steel connections for bracing. A 2D design software was used for the simpler connections.Due to the number of steel elements at one connection in many instances, as well as offsets between some of the steel members, the 3D design software, Idea Statica was also used for the connection designs. This enabled very clear visuals of how all the steel members and connecting members would interact with each other, and to also ensure it was feasible to construct.

This project involved steel connection designs for the new steel-framed balconies at Capitol House. Some of the connections consisted of a universal beams connected to hollw section steelwork beams or columns. We used the 3D design software, Idea Statica for these connections as they connections, though simple, were non-standard.
